This post comes from abroad and by abroad, I mean Chicago. It might as well be a different planet though because it is vastly different than Southeast Missouri. This is my very first time here and I have thoroughly enjoyed it.

I am here for a Psychology conference, which has been very interesting in it's own right. I saw an entire presentation about BDSM from the world's most awkward presenter. No joke. Also we watched a 20 minute video of a human birth into a river somewhere in the rain forest. Also, not a joke and completely unrelated to the conference.

One of the most hilarious moments of the entire trip took place last night. To save money, one of the girls in my room is sleeping on an air mattress. We are wrapping up our evening with some girl chat and usual sort of things while she blows up the air mattress. All of a sudden, we hear the same noise that happens when you suck a penny into a vacuum. I jerk my head around and see that my room mate has sucked her hair into the air pump. Screaming. She screams, I scream, my room mates scream. Finally, she turns the pump off and I unplug it from the wall. We remove all of her hair and the burnt remnants. It's one of those awkward moments when you're not sure whether or not you should freak out or laugh.

It's been quite a swell trip though. A lot of fun times with people I really like. Some old friends I know better, some new friends I just met.

TOP TEN MOMENTS:
(1) "my crappy little hand"...and every joke that came along with that

(2) meeting some guy at a social and telling him that I was Chelsey and my friend was Chelsea... he was very impressed by that

(3) when we met two random people and they went to dinner with us.

(4) Joanne Ruthsatz... seriously an amazing presenter and her work with Autistic & Prodigy children blew my mind.

(5) looking for dark chocolate

(6) trying to do the Kylie Jenner lip challenge in our hotel room. unsuccessfully. but nobody's lips exploded, so it was cool.

(7) the space bean and all that magicalness. but not the people who mocked my selfie stick. those clowns.

(8) all. the. food. seriously, just all the food.

(9) "take one button"... takes all 5 buttons because I just have a lot of emotions.

(10) meeting like minded people who are fun to joke around with. seriously, I met so many great people and I wish I had been friends with more of them throughout school. we had a great group go and I had so much fun.

BONUS: the guy who tried to sell us LSD while we were walking to the 7-11... twice.

I Have No Self Control. You're Lucky I Have My Pants On.

Do you ever have one of those days where you don't want to complete one single thing. What about a semester? This is my current life right now. Completing anything without a nap is seriously a struggle. I know I need to accomplish things but I don't want to do them... so I don't. When I think about what needs to be done, it becomes overwhelming. It is a vicious cycle that only ends in naps, carbs, or crying (or a combination of all three). Slowly and steadily this train is dragging her caboose up the mountain and graduation is almost upon me. I am equally excited and reluctant.

Side note: I have recently found new room mates for next year. I don't know them well but I have good feelings about it. It feels very serendipitous and they laughed at my Mortal Kobat gif, so I feel like it is going to work out well.

Here is a top 10 list of things I would rather do instead of homework or anything else that ACTUALLY needs to be done (in no specific order):

1.) Playing Cards Against Humanity

2.) Karaoke

3.) Ordering Mexican Takeout and over-indulging

4.) Roaming Walmart for useless items

5.) Taking quizzes on Buzzfeed

6.) Reading Cosmo or a book or the nutritional facts on the closest junk food

7.) Making Powerpoints about useless information (Example: My Dating History)

8.) Cat pictures. Enough said.

9.) Googling useless things to impress people while making small talk

10.) Reminiscing the golden age of boy bands

This blog title not only comes from the fact that I don't want to complete anything I start but also because I lack self control in other areas. Tonight there was a major episode of Grey's Anatomy and although my room mate and I are trying to watch the show fully from start to finish, I could not stop myself from jumping ahead 29 years of Grey time and reading spoiler blogs about it. Basically, I have no self-control when it comes to things like this... and also no shame.

What I Love About College.

So, I have moved away to college. I graduated from Community in December and here I am, recieving a higher education and drinking so much coffee that the people at Starbuck's on Campus know my name.

It's really a great and I love it here. It's nice to be on my own, mostly because I live in a dorm and I don't pay have to actually pay rent, but hey, who's counting that?

If anybody tells you that College is real life, they are lying. College is like this weird transition between childhood and adulthood. Sure, some people are out there really working to support themselves and maintaining the status of full-time student and I commend them. However, I would say that most traditional students, probably spend more time microwaving ramen noodles and debating which classes they can skip and not get dropped from the class roll.

If you are reading this and debating whether or not to go away to college: JUST DO IT! Real life can wait. Marriage can wait. Getting a real job can wait. There are few experiences like living away from home but still being considered a kid. It's like this whole new crazy world that you get to experience for the first time, it gives you the chance to just hold off on the workforce a few more years while actually learning something of value. Aside from the advancement that an education gives you, college is just something you shouldn't miss out on. There is always something going on. Also, there are free t-shirts. Everybody in college wants to give away free t-shirts and you can't miss that bandwagon!
